Akingbade Daniel, a 400L student of Pure and Applied Psychology of AAUA and the former P.R.O of AAUSU has kicked off an empowerment initiative aimed at empowering youths and students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko.
The initiative which kicked off on November 11, at the Late Adebayo Adefarati's residence made a remarkable change in the life of AAUAITES as 64 students were enrolled into entrepreneurship ventures for at least a year for little or no pay.
In attendance were the Akoko South West Local Government Supervisor for Work, Hon. Alabama Olotu; Mr. Seyi Oluwalade ,Information Protocol and Public Relations Unit (IPPRU) who was also the guest speaker of the programme; AAUA Student Union President, Optimum; Former AAUASU Presidents, Sue The Bastard, Kdivine, and Reformer; Faculty Of Arts President, Di Major; National Association of Ondo State Students (NAOSS) President, Sir Moral; Comrade Meta Meta and students of AAUA.
Also were the Head of Transformer Beauty Cafe, Tee-top Beauty Salon, 9kon Photography, New world Salon, Grace Cake Company amidst others.
According to Daniel,the initiative was to keep students busy with an entrepreneurship work that will directly or indirectly reduce the number of student that will involved in various vices and to encourage students to graduate with an addition vocational as entrepreneurs.
Over 400 students were said to have showed interest, 121 were shortlisted and 64 students showed up for different skills.
The guest speaker, Mr Oluwaseyi Oluwalade in his words encouraged the students present to value to the golden opportunity because such had helped him in life.
Skills to be learnt by the students include: Photography, Website designing, Computer Operations, Hair dressing fashion design/tailoring, Barbing, Shoemaking, cake and event decoration, Catering services, make-up artist.
